Actor Zweli Dube says Muvhango creator and executive producer Duma kaNdlovu is the one guy he owes his big break to him. “Baba Duma kaNdlovu is the reason I got my big break on The Lion King. He was the casting director of the musical and he gave me that big break,” Zweli told Thembisa Mdoda Touch HD’s show Let’s Do Lunch.
Zweli went on to say that Duma’s support didn’t stop there, after doing his stint at Lion King when Zweli cameback it was Duma who gave him his break in TV.
“I just had just comeback to South Africa in 2009. He saw me in the corridors of the SABC and he said: ‘You look like you need a job’. After that he told me about a character he was developing and he told me to get a suit and come to audition the next day,” Zweli explained.
Zweli said he auditioned with two other actors and two hours later the producers called him and welcomed him to the Muvhango family.
“Being at Muvhango has been really great and I love the show and the cast, we are like one big family. I will be on the show as long as they want me there,” the actor added.
